Elena Readelli & Mara Sola

On Nature

27.02. – 02.02.2014

Elena Readelli and Mara Sola are two artists based in Stavanger. Both are working with their newly impressions on the Norwegian nature. The new environment and the cultural differences are sources of inspiration for the artists. They both work with the notions of space and the poetics around it.

On Nature is an installation built up of paper structures and graphite pencil drawings based on the immediate response to the artists’ new surroundings.

Elena Readelli (Italy) holds a First Class Honors Degree in Fine Art (sculpture) from the Rome Academy of Fine Arts (2005). After graduating she developed an interest in textile art and she has worked as an artist alongside teaching arts to people with social and physical problems. In 2008 she started reflecting upon natural forms and her sculptures became site-specific installations, merging with the surrounding environment. She creates art works and outdoor installations for international exhibitions, Art residencies and Nature art Biennals (Australia, China, Korea, Germay, UK).

Mara Sola (Spain) holds a First Class Honors Degree in Fine Art (painting) from Galway Mayo Institute of Technology (2010) Ireland. Sola works mainly with the medium of drawing and paintings where the sense of alienation and displacement is expressed in a poetic and nostalgic manner. She has been participating in numerous group exhibitions and solo shows in Ireland and UK. Her works are in the collections of the Visual Artist Ireland and the Office of Public Works along with a number of selected private collections. Sola is a member of BKFR, Rogaland, Norway.
