EGO ALTER TRANSCEND DEATH is an installation, video and performance work exploring identity as a shifting constellation of egos led by desire. Drawing on 2000s popstar nostalgia, post-pop whimsy, hyper-feminine aesthetics, and queer-informed expression, the work examines how confidence, glamour and self-performance can feel both empowering and manufactured. It questions where desire originates–from the self, from childhood conditioning, or from cultural ideals shaped by capitalism and gender roles. Through body as a medium, the tension is exposed between wanting to take up space and resisting the norms that created that impulse. The work embraces contradiction: doubt and impulse, shame and power, fear and self-expression.
Anna Ludvigsen (b. 2003) graduated from The Stavanger Art School in 2025. She currently studies at the Norwegian Film School in Lillehammer, Norway. With this new focus on production design, she aims to create immersive spaces for film, theater, and the art scene.
Studio17 is continuing the successful collaboration between the Stavanger School of Art, where one of the students graduating from the school is invited to have a solo exhibition at Studio17 during the upcoming autumn. In 2024 Michael Walde had his first solo exhibition at Studio17 in the framework of this collaborative project. The selection was then, as it is now, made based on the artistic quality of the work presented at the graduation exhibition of Stavanger School of Art.
This year it was Art historian, writer, art critic, teacher, and musician Mona Mørk who chose Anna Ludvigsen from this years graduation exhibition «KUNST I KOMMANDO».
