Lona Hansen

Shapes of Awareness

29.04. – 01.05.2016

For the exhibition Shapes of Awareness at Studio17, Lona Hansen will present a selection of sculptural works and collages in addition to site-specific installations. In her practice, Hansen explores consciousness and the physical experience in relation to the material and the space. She is interested in the immaterial and formlessness, therefore also in form. Form as a way to articulate space, and show the potential of the negative space. The works refer to spatial reasoning tests – tests used to map ones ability to understand the spatial relations between objects and to visualize and mentally manipulate space. Contradictions like absence and presence, concrete and intangible, subtle and monumental, volume and mass underlie Hansen’s exploration.

Lona Hansen Hansen (b. 1988, Oslo) lives and works in Bergen. She holds a BFA from the Trondheim Academy of Art and an MFA from the Bergen Academy of Art and Design.

Some previous exhibitions include: Gråmølna / Trondheim Art Museum, Hordaland kunstsenter, One Night Only / UKS and recently the exhibition Spirituell tid og rom at Visningsrommet USF with colleagues Daniel Slåttnes and Sara Rönnbäck.
