Studio17 Residency

Marte Dahl & Sara Guldmyr

18.11. – 08.12.2024

Studio17 Residency is pleased to welcome artists Marte Dahl and Sara Guldmyr to Stavanger for the last Residency this season. Both will engage with our space to further their individual artistic practices, bringing distinct perspectives and creative approaches to their residency.

Marte Dahl (1989, Norway) lives and works in Oslo.
Dahl explores movement and interaction through sculptural costume design and performance, viewing materials and objects as extensions of the body. With a diverse artistic practice encompassing choreography, materials, sound, everyday actions and its associated objects, she investigates how these elements shape our relationship with ourselves and our surroundings. Dahl holds an MFA from the Academy of Fine Art in Bergen (2022) and a BFA from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts (2018). Her works have been exhibited at Ex Teresa Arte Actual in Mexico City, Hordaland Kunstsenter, Kunsthall 3,14, Bergen Kunsthall, and Kunstbanken Hedmark Kunstsenter.

Sara Guldmyr works mainly with film and sculpture on projects that ask questions about time, distance and trust.

In a present characterized by a fast digital pace, Sara wants to highlight different ways of measuring time in relation to the body, technology and interpersonal relationships.

For Studio17, she will among other things, work on a video called ”Trolleys and arms”. It is a project that celebrates carrying, by using trolleys and arms. To carry things from one place to another. How do we carry a heavy piano down a staircase or a fragile paper in strong wind? How do we ask for help?

Sara Guldmyr (b.1990, Anderstorp, SE), is a visual artist and filmmaker based in Oslo. Guldmyr graduated from BFA at Trondheim Academy of Fine Arts and MFA at Oslo National Academy of the Arts. In 2023/24 she held a studio space in Kunstnernes Hus through a grant by FKDS the following year. Guldmyr has exhibited at Trøndelag Center for Contemporary Art, Kunstnernes Hus, Atelier Nord and Litteraturhuset in Oslo.
