Benedikte Bergevik

Limited Capacity

27.11. – 29.11.2020

Studio17 proudly presents Benedikte Bergevik solo exhibition Limited Capacity!

In the artists own words:
“I am affected by young adults’ existential challenges and social issues. How does one find meaning in what seems to be meaningless repetition and routine? The question is primarily rhetorical, but there is certainly a sense of comfort and security in the thought of being in the same sinking ship. By focusing on fragments of text and everyday situations taken out of their trivial context, I want to create a narrative where one observes surroundings in such a way that even small details and insignificant moments can be poetic and meaningful in themselves.”

Studio17 is continuing the successful collaboration between the Stavanger School of Art, where one of the students graduating from the school is invited to have a solo exhibition at Studio17 during the upcoming autumn. In 2019 Marie Saure had her first solo exhibition at Studio17 in the framework of this collaborative project. The selection was then, as it is now, made based on the artistic quality of the work presented at the graduation exhibition of Stavanger School of Art. This year Kristina Ketola Bore, curator at Kunsthall Stavanger, chose Bergevik from the graduating exhibition Tåkelys. Ketola Bore will deliver a speech on the opening day.
