Reveal the Stage

06.09. – 09.09.2018

Lola Bezemer’s solo exhibition «Reveal the Stage» premiers a new, site-specific work made for the gallery space of Studio17. In the immersive installation, bearing the same title as the exhibition, wall partitions call forth interaction and spaces are reconfigured by performers. As visitors are passing through the divisions, layers of coloured textile will reveal chance meetings and suggest novel perspectives to the notion of space.

Through the creation of performative and vibrant architectural installations, Lola Bezemer challenges social interactions and ways of seeing. She calls into question the apparent rigidity of spaces by approaching them as flexible constructions; with objects and people moving and being moved through them, appearing and disappearing in order to form continuously evolving compositions.

Lola Bezemer (1988, the Netherlands) graduated from the Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam in 2013. She has exhibited and performed at, amongst others, The Orchid And The Wasp, Amsterdam (NL); Art Rotterdam (NL); Kilometre of Sculpture, Rakvere (EE); Skaftfell, Seyðisfjörður (IS); W139, Amsterdam (NL); and Superdeals, Brussels (BE).
